Valerie over at the HEM blog compares the use of Google to how homeschooling works.
This piece reminded me of an idea I’ve had for a while – what if we made high school (or even all school) more like World of Warcraft?
Kids and adults alike get HOOKED on WoW. What if we could bring in the elements of WoW that inspire kids to spend hours standing around waiting for their raid to form, spend hours working on trade skills and spend hours running around the virtual worlds in order to acheieve so many little goals in thequest for a larger goal, and used that in our schools? What would that look like? And how would it change education, learning and how the entity of school is orchestrated?
It’s interesting to ponder on, if anything. It may be, with the upsurge of online education of all kinds, it may just evolve into something like WoW on its own.
